What’s in the kit: 4 × 2.5 m rim guard strips, cleaning wipe, adhesive promoter, gloves, end-seal strips.
You’ll also need: Scissors or snips, isopropyl alcohol (if wheels are very dirty), lint-free cloth, masking tape (optional).
Prep
1. Clean thoroughly. Wash the wheel lip where the strip will stick; remove wax, tyre shine and brake dust. Dry completely. (Adhesives hate silicone/grease.)
2. Work warm. Aim for ~20–30 °C surface temp; avoid rain/cold. If cool, warm the strip and rim with hands or gentle sun. (Improves bond.)
3. Test-fit. Hold a strip around the rim lip to visualise the path and where the ends will meet (usually near the valve).
Install
4. Degrease the bond line. Use the supplied wipe; for stubborn residue use isopropyl, then let it flash off.
5. Apply adhesive promoter. Light, continuous film around the rim edge where the strip will sit. Let it go tacky. (This step massively increases adhesion.)
6. Start near the valve. Peel a short section of backing and press the strip on, keeping it centred on the rim lip.
7. Work in small sections. Continue peeling backing 10–15 cm at a time, pressing firmly as you go. Maintain steady tension; don’t stretch hard.
8. Seat the strip. After each quarter of the wheel, go back and press along the last section again with firm, even pressure.
9. Join the ends. Trim for a neat butt-joint; avoid overlap. Fit the clear end-seal strip over the joint for a tidy finish.
10. Final press-down. Work the whole circumference once more with firm pressure to fully wet-out the adhesive.
Cure & aftercare
11. Initial cure: Avoid driving/rain for 1–2 hours if possible.
12. Full cure: Avoid pressure-washing/automatic car washes for 24–48 hours. Re-press any spots that look lifted during the first day.
